Privacy Policy

MXT ("we", "us", or "our") operates the MXT mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data. By using MXT, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, and a password. Passwords are stored as secure hashes — we never store or have access to your plain-text password.

Profile and social content. Drink logs, ratings, posts, comments, and likes you create are visible to other MXT users. Profile photos you upload are stored on our servers.

Location. If you grant location permission, we use your approximate location to show nearby bars and venues on the Bar Map. Location is only accessed while the App is open — we do not collect location in the background. You can revoke this permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.

Push notification token. If you enable notifications, we store a device token to send you alerts (e.g. when someone likes or comments on your content). You can opt out at any time in Settings → Notifications → MXT.

Device and usage data. We collect standard technical information including device type, operating system version, IP address, and general in-app activity (screens viewed, features used). This data is used to maintain and improve the App and is not linked to your identity.

2. Subscriptions and Payments

MXT offers an auto-renewable premium subscription ("MXT Premium") at $2.99/month, which includes a 7-day free trial for new subscribers.

• All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, see, or store your payment card information.
• Your subscription automatically renews at $2.99/month at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
• The free trial will not be charged if cancelled before it ends. After the trial, the subscription fee is billed to your Apple ID account.
• We retain subscription records (purchase date, renewal history) for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter for legal and tax compliance.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To create and maintain your account
• To display your social content (posts, ratings, drink logs) to other users
• To show nearby bar and venue recommendations using your location
• To send push notifications about social activity on your content
• To process and verify subscription status via Apple
• To improve app performance, fix bugs, and develop new features
• To comply with applicable laws and legal obligations

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:

• Apple Inc. — for App Store payments, push notification delivery (APNs), and subscription management.
• Railway — our cloud infrastructure provider. Your data is stored on servers located in the United States.
• Law enforcement or legal authorities — if required by applicable law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.

Any third-party services we use are contractually obligated to protect your data and may only use it to provide services to us.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, tax, or compliance purposes.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of any inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated personal data
• Withdraw consent for location access or push notifications at any time via your device Settings

7. Children's Privacy

MXT is not directed at children under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us immediately and we will delete it promptly.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data, including encrypted HTTPS connections, hashed passwords, and access controls on our infrastructure. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of MXT after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
